Ototlithe du Sénégal (Pseudotolithus senegalensis)

A handsome member of the drum family that grows to at least 20kgs, this bright silver, streamlined fish is sometimes common in local waters. Fillet baits and whole dead mullet fished on the bottom in the surf zone and in and around the lagoon mouth is the favored way of targeting this species. They will eagerly hit a lure when it can be got to them.

The above-described fish species are encountered more or less regularly but a number of other species are often caught; yet not always specifically targeted.
