Clothing
Clothing should be lightweight - long sleeve, collared shirts that are polyester based and not pure cotton. Cotton is too clammy in an equatorial climate. Khaki is the most practical all-round colour.
- Long pants (and socks) should be worn at night to avoid contact with mosquitoes.
- Wide-brimmed hat or cap with neck cover.
- Lightweight raincoat.
- Lightweight fishing shoes.
Personal Accessories
- Polaroid sunglasses
- Good quality headlamp for pre-dawn and late evening fishing sessions.
- Cameras, film and spare batteries (a Polaroid filter can be useful).
- Dry bag for storing your not-to-get-wet goodies.
- Field binoculars if you want to see the birds and wildlife better.
Toiletries
- Sunscreen / lip balm with sun protection.
- Anti-itch insect bite application and/or anti-histamine (Biting insects are seldom a problem, although some people do react badly to a few of the local fly bites).
- Malaria does occur in the areas but it is not rampant.
